About

Ashley Courtney RIBA Architect in Cambridge

Ashley Courtney BA (Hons), Dip Arch, RIBA, AABC

I have over twenty years experience as a chartered architect having worked in London, and then Cambridge since 1998. I have worked on a variety of building types over the years but have always worked on listed buildings. More recently, and especially since I set up on my own in 2013, the majority of my work involves churches and I now look after nearly forty.

I love traditional materials and the craft skills that churches entail. I love to solve their problems, repair their fabric and keep them dry and as warm as possible. I also enjoy the challenge of a re-ordering scheme, and the provision of new facilities in these precious historic contexts. It is vital that these centuries old churches remain relevant and fit for purpose for another hundred years or more.

I am an accredited architect on the building conservation register (AABC), and an approved architect for several Dioceses. I am also a member of the Building Limes Forum, and keep up to date with the latest developments and understandings of the lime revival.

I aim to give a dedicated and personal service to my clients, finding the most elegant and clever solutions to meet their needs.
