The Old School House

Masonry Repaires

These works required urgent high level repairs to this Grade II* collection of what were once almshouses and hospital in the C18. Built of soft red brickwork it was particularly susceptible to the erroneous repointing and mortar repairs in cement. Many areas were failing requiring a lot of matching replacements carefully stitched back into place with lime mortar. The four large chimney stacks were repointed and their tops rebuilt.

In addition the existing failing plastic rainwater goods was replaced with new cast iron guttering and downpipes of adequate capacity, and now fit in a great deal better.
